This is a rare, new-old-stock example still packed in cosmoline as it came from storage — unissued and exceptionally well preserved. All serialized components are matching. The Type 56 is the Chinese-produced version of the Soviet SKS, chambered in 7.62×39mm and built in large numbers at Chinese state arsenals. Earlier production, such as this Factory 366 example, is distinguished by the folding blade "sword" bayonet, later superseded by the spike-type bayonet on many guns. Finding a Type 56 that is all-matching and in genuine new-old-stock, cosmoline-packed condition is increasingly difficult, making this an outstanding collector-grade example as well as a superb shooter. Complete with sling and buttstock cleaning kit, it represents the Type 56 SKS at its best.
